About
Murdoch Notes are observations from working inside complex systems.
They examine a recurring problem: organisations often become stuck and lose the ability to perceive the reality around them. Data is frequently introduced as a remedy, yet many organisations struggle to derive value from it. Recent developments in artificial intelligence have made this both easier and harder: easier to generate information, harder to see clearly.
The result is that organisations often find themselves diverging from their goals without noticing it.
These notes look at data and AI not simply as assets, but as part of an organisation’s interface with a changing world.
The notes are maintained by Matthias Wong as part of a broader research program.
